WE PROUDLY PRESENT: MA CHOREOGRAPHIE ABSCHLUSSARBEITEN
** click here for english version **

Dear friends of the HZT Berlin,
in JUne and July seven students of the Masters in Choreography program (maC) will show their artistic final pieces. Two double-bills in Uferstudios, one piece in the bat Studio theatre, one installation in the Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik and a performance at Windkanal Adlershof - all characterised by the indi-vidual artistic position and unique penmanship of each student. Through colourful light, you will bear witness to the meeting of dance and music and see the gracefulness of the human body. You will experience a struggle against adverse circumstances and receive a glimpse into a demented brain, you will set off on the trail of leftovers in a wind canal and, finally, you will move through a choreography with its sights on America. We are pleased to introduce you to our graduates - via seven personal answers to the question, “What can choreography be?” With sunny greetings the HZT Team 10. & 11.6. Why is it considered graceful to stand up vertically. The flesh, that in christianity symbol-ises desire, hangs from our vertebrae and hinders the upright form. Our flesh can wrap the verte-brae, supporting them and keeping them vertical. This performance is divided into vertebrae and flesh, and both hover like desire and a disembodied soul in the air. It is through the fusion of the vertebrae and the flesh that we will manage to stand vertically. Entrance: 4 €, no reservations, tickets only at the ticket desk from 6:15pm. An end-times atmosphere on earth; A resistant leftover population expect, defy, wait steadfastly How can they arm and make themselves impregnable for the next stage? He lay like skinned flesh on the asphalt. Round, unearthly, tall and deep, all at the same time. Through him from the unseeable, a narrow boardwalk extends into the now. The rest becomes impulse. After America is a choreographic installation which evokes the political urgency of the 1950’s Beat Poets in response to the current climate in the United States. Underground, three isolated poet-performers revisit the tools of their misfit predecessors: shameless confessions, mystical visions, and the unhinging of the senses. It is named after Allen Ginsberg’s poem “America” (1956). A tunnel, a hole, a tent, a dead end. Original, enclosed, intimate, restricted. A protective roof, a confining bunker. In question is one room and the people who move around within it. At first glance there is nothing unusual about the place. Upon closer inspection, shadows come to light. One room, that moves.
