Weißt du, was ich meine? @20:30 WARM UP station in st. 13 @21:00 performance in st. 14 Publikum: max. (dedicated to my brother Diego) /Feel how what I have to tell you vibrates/ TaypiMami is a hyper existencial, deeply spiritual dialogue with the real/imagined selves I was/am and the ones I will be. Decolonial aesthetics and notions, personal stories, states of mind and movement practices, gather at the intersection with identity, memory, healing strategies, rituals, and the agency of sensuality and sexuality. It draws into the idea of the circularity of time and that healing the present can change the past and the future. Costume design: Ambra Fiorenza. Light: Catalina Fernández, Mmakgosi Kgabi-Berge. The installation explores the contradiction of feeling at rest in unstable qualities. A line is drawn between psychological and physical processes by tracking moments of phase transition. Phase transition is a term from physics that is commonly used to describe shifts between solid, liquid, and gaseous states of matter, whereas I apply it to a fluid notion of gender identity. I wish to find a place of endless daydreaming, a place where time is undefined through opening up, undoing and shifting space to inhabit the negative space. Rhythmically oscillating structures create the conditions for a fragile new state of dynamic equilibrium. The audience is welcome to enter the installation and experience a transforming landscape. The space is open and the audience may come and go as they like. made by Janine Iten, mentored by Emily Besa and Eva Meyer-Keller, tutored by Alice Chauchat, sound designed and performed by Florian T M Zeisig, lighting supervised by Benjamin Schälike, production supported by Stephan Kostropetsch, Maximilian Stelzl and Nikola Pieper, photo by Janine Iten Admittance is free. "The unity of the craftsman’s mind and body can be found in the expressive language that guides physical action. Physical acts of repetition and practice enable this animal laborans to develop skill from within and to reconfigure the material world through a slow process of metamorphosis." (Richard Sennet, The craftman, 2008) This performance examines labor processes within a society subjugated through steel and programmed chips and constructs a ritual entity through a series of imaginative reflections. It further questions the sovereignty of a revolving societal dystopia,of corporeal labor in the realm of increasingly industrialized by automated modus operandi. She once said to me: "I often dream of the endless party. The one where everyone gets caught in a trance. And you wonder if you are the only one who feels like leaving. You know what I mean? And the more you feel like leaving, the more it feels like a repetitive torture to stay. Like... Marguerite with the devil! Or eating bar-food for dinner. The sensation of forced containment… to avoid getting kicked out of The Society. Dancing like chewing gum. And singing like it's the only thing to do. There is an idiotic, dark cabaret. And a cinematographic sliding diva. A frame around conversations... A word above the absence of sight. And elevator music, gently whispering." ƒ(being) is a reimagining of the early sci-fi stage play R.U.R. written by Karl Čapek in 1920. The idea of artificially engineered life and the question of delimination between artificial and natural is used to (de)construct the performative situation. @20:30 visit our WARM UP station in st. 13 @21:00 performance in st. 14 duration 60' audience max. 60 persons A Solo Together thematize the notion of utopian collectivity that I remember from my childhood lived in socialist Yugoslavia. This is thought through the context of the post-socialist world and imagined as an event performance co-created and co-performed together with the audience in a form of the chain reaction. The dramaturgy is very fragmentary: it's a collection of individual moments where we deal with details such as personal artefacts, political situation, acoustic exportations or staged memory. Objects from my personal archives, filled with emotions and symbols, are offered to audience that is invited to translate them into action. Using their reaction, I build a kind of old-new performative material. All those elements work like pieces of puzzles which expand into different contextual and associative spaces to create the whole, final picture. "Da Dad Dada" is a performance project examining the relationship between a successful musical dancer in 1960s Japan, Ken Hara, and his daughter Saori Hala. Though related by blood, Ken Hara and I were family but never familiar. After his death in 2015, I dove deeper into his history as a dancer through his personal archives. This project, however instigated by autobiographical materials, investigates ways of mourning and acts of touching someone's memories, not simply focusing on the personal but further expanding the narratives of actions not taken.
