Unter dem Titel "Relational Intelligence through Somatic Communication in Dance" gibt Nita Little am 17. April 2019 eine Lecture und Master Class.

Um 16:30h startet die Choreographin und Wissenschaftlerin für improvisierten Tanz und Contact Improvisation mit einen einstündigen Vortrag zur relationalen Intelligenz sowohl zwischen Menschen als auch zwischen Menschen und Nicht-Menschlichem.

Anschließend findet eine Master Class statt, die sich als eine Einführung in die physischen Praktiken, die der relationalen Intelligenz in der Arbeit mit Contact und Ensemble Improvisation zugrunde liegen, versteht. Die Masterclass begrenzt auf ca. 40 Teilnehmer*innen - first come, first serve.

Nita Little ist Choreographin, Tänzerin, Theoretikerin und Dozentin. Ihr ganzes Berufsleben hindurch hat sie sich intensiv mit der Bedeutung von Improvisation im Tanz beschäftigt. Gemeinsam mit Steve Paxton, Nancy Stark Smith und anderen war sie an der Entwicklung der Contact Improvisation (CI) seit Beginn der 70er Jahre beteiligt. In ihrer Arbeit mit Steve Paxton entwickelte sie Lehrmethoden, Performancepraxen, und konzeptionelles Verständnis der Form.

Die sieben Studierenden des *MA Choreographie (maC)* haben sich in ihrem ersten Studiensemester mit der Form des Solos auseinandergesetzt, ihre Soli über das gesamte Semester hinweg bearbeitet und weiterentwickelt. Das Ergebnis dieser Recherche wird an zwei unterschiedlichen Abenden am 23. und 24.4. ab 19h in Form von sieben Soloarbeiten, aus denen die große Spannbreite der künstlerischen Haltungen und Mittel der internationalen Studierenden erkennbar werden, präsentiert.

Mit Choreographien von Jadi Carboni, Clara Federica Crescini_Claire, David Lima, Saida Makhmudzade, Alica Minarova, Akemi Nagao und Evangelia Papadopoulou.

Körper - und ihre künstlerischen Artikulationen - sind zentral, um die komplexen Umfelder, in denen wir heute leben, zu begreifen: sie entfalten ihre ‚diagnostischen‘ Fähigkeiten, indem sie sich die vielschichtigen Bedingungen, die unser Zusammenleben ausmachen, aneignen, sie rekonstruieren und reflektieren und sie zur Spekulation und Imagination freigeben. Kleinteilig, im Alltag, oder auf globaler Ebene treten Körper in den symbolischen und physischen Territorien die von Machtvektoren wie Nationalität, Souveränität und Normalität durchzogen sind, gleichermaßen als Zeugen, Dokumente und Agenten auf. Dabei ermöglichen sie uns keinen unmittelbaren oder ‚authentischen‘ Zugang zur Realität, sondern fordern uns auf, die Rolle von Körperlichkeit und Verkörperung an den Schnittstellen von Ästhetik, Politik und Ethik neu zu überdenken.

In fünf öffentlichen Lectures versammelt die MA SODA Lecture-Reihe 2019 Künstler*innen aus verschiedenen Bereichen: Tanz und Choreografie, Theater, Bildende Kunst und Film. Ihre künstlerischen Praktiken stellen jeweils spezifische Ansätze vor, durch sinnliche, performative, choreografische und symbolische Strategien auf die Welten, in denen wir leben, zu reagieren, in sie einzugreifen und an ihnen teilzuhaben.

With the title "Relational Intelligence through Somatic Communication in Dance" Nita Little will give a lecture and master class on April 17th 2019.

At 4.30pm the choreographer and scientist for improvised dance and contact improvisation will start with a one-hour Lecture on relational intelligence between humans as well as between humans and non-human beings.

The Lecture will be followed by a Master Class, which is an introduction to the physical practices underlying relational intelligence in Contact and Ensemble Improvisation. The Masterclass is limited to approx. 40 participants - first come, first serve.

Nita Little, performer, choreographer, teacher, scholar and writer, has been delving into the significance of improvisational dance actions the entirety of her professional career, which began with the emergence and development of Contact Improvisation (CI) in the early 70s. Her work with Steve Paxton was research generative of CI including touring with him, developing teaching methodologies, performance practices and conceptual understanding of the form.

In their first semester, the seven students of *MA Choreography (maC)* have dealt with the form of solo, worked on their solos throughout the semester and developed them further. The results of this research will be presented on two different evenings on April 23rd and 24th starting at 7 pm in the form of seven solo works from which the wide range of artistic attitudes and means of the international students can be seen.

Bodies – and their artistic articulations – are key to understanding the complex surroundings that we live in today: they unfold their ‘diagnostic’ capacities by reconstructing and reflecting, de-normalizing and re-appropriating, testing, imagining and speculating on what conditions our living-together in manifold and multi-layered ways. Small-scale, in the everyday, or at a global level, bodies, here, appear simultaneously as witnesses, documents, and agents as they move across physical and symbolic territories drawn by vectors of power such as nationhood, sovereignty, and normalcy. However, they are not approached as transparent windows that provide unmediated access to reality or as the last resort of authenticity and immediacy. Rather, they invite us to rethink corporeality today and underscore the intertwinement between aesthetics, politics, and ethics.

In five public events, the MA SODA Lecture Series 2019 gathers artists from different fields of engagement: dance and choreography, theatre, visual arts and film. They introduce their artistic practices as specific ways of responding to, intervening, and participating in the worlds that we live in by sensorial, performative, choreographic and symbolic strategies.
